CSUEU and CSU Reach Tentative Agreement
Bargaining Update #16 - January 13, 2012
The CSUEU bargaining team successfully concluded negotiations for a new contract this afternoon. CSUEU and CSU reached a tentative agreement which is subject to ratification by each bargaining unit.
Informational meetings will be scheduled at each campus in coming weeks; the schedule for those meetings and the tentative agreement will be posted on the CSUEU web site as soon as possible.
The tentative agreement includes the following:
- A three-year agreement with wage and benefits reopeners in the second and third year and a special side letter which states that the parties will bargain over salary and compensation structure and movement through the salary ranges
- A freeze on parking fee increases through July 2012 and in any year when there is no general salary increase (GSI). If there is a GSI, the increase is capped at $3 per month in any fiscal year
- Maintenance of employee benefits, including the extension of rural healthcare subsidies
- No loss of arbitration for the period in which the previous contract expired
- Inclusion of out-of-class work and increased workload in the criteria for in-range progressions
- An expanded definition of “immediate family” that increases eligibility for leave
- Improved language against displacement by managers and student assistants
- Maintenance of protection of seniority in Article 24
- Recognition of workload in performance evaluations
More details will follow.
“Despite the difficult situation with the state budget, we were able to protect employee rights and benefits,” said CSUEU President Pat Gantt. “Clearly, our successful campaign against parking fee increases moved negotiations and made this agreement possible. Thank you to our members!”
