Governor's Budget Proposal for FY 2007/08

The Governor's Budget supports a total compensation package of 4.25%, which is 1% less than the 5.25% package we negotiated for FY 07/08.

The initial state budget proposal from the Governor was released January 10, 2007, and only addresses the "compact" that was made between Chancellor Reed and the Governor. It does NOT support the total amount of funds we negotiated for FY 2007/08. The Governor's Budget supports a total compensation package of 4.25%, which is 1% less than the 5.25% package we negotiated for FY 07/08. We are currently in the process of developing a legislative strategy and campaign in an effort to augment the CSU budget by at least $27 million.

We have every intention of joining with the other CSU labor unions in order to provide a united front to the legislature. We are also intent on requiring the CSU to meet its commitment to us and actively participate with us in seeking the additional funds from the legislature and the governor. Legislative budget hearings on the CSU budget begin in March. We won't know what the final budget is until July or August. At that point, if the final budgeted amount does not support the increases we negotiated, there will be a reopener on Article 20 (Salary).
