About 80 students and faculty gathered for the rally. The protest against student fee increases and cuts to outreach programs was one of 10 planned this week and next week at different Cal State campuses.

Undergraduate systemwide fees will increase by 10 percent this fall unless lawmakers vote to give the California State University system more money than the governor has proposed. Without more help from the Legislature, fees will go up $252 per year to $2,772, according to the CSU system.

Cal State system officials have said fee hikes are needed to maintain the university's quality in an era when state funding has been eroded.
