Despite the holdup in the state budget, CSUEU represented employees will continue to receive their paychecks on time. However, the raises provided under the new collective bargaining agreement will be delayed until the budget impasse is broken.Once a state budget is approved, and assuming the higher education "Compact" is fully funded in the state budget, the raises will be paid retroactively in full.

The calls and e-mails to Republican senators seemed to have had an impact. The CSUEU and other unions cannot rest until the state budget is signed. Funding for the CSU has been cut in previous budget stalemates late in the budget process.

Here's the message: Keep in the state budget all the California State University funding promised by the governor and adopted by the state Assembly on Friday. Any loss of this funding would mean slashing classes for students, cutting new student enrollment, and reopening CSU employee contracts.
