In an effort to balance the state budget, various proposals are being contemplated which would cut funding to the CSU budget. This could jeopardize salary increases for all CSU employees and would undermine improved working relationships between the CSU and unions representing its employees.

  

The State budget impasse drags on and some legislators are calling for more spending cuts. The CSUEU and other CSU Unions are monitoring the situation for any impacts of CSU funding. 

  

Last week the state Assembly approved AB 1413, legislation which would prevent secret agreements and curb the questionable executive compensation practices demonstrated by the CSU Administration in recent years.

  

California will face a serious shortage of skilled workers within 20 years if it continues to rely on importing college-educated foreign workers or out-of-state workers, according to a report issued Wednesday by the Public Policy Institute of California.

  

We must continue our fight for additional funding.
