It's certainly good to be on the California State University faculty staff. Not only is it great to teach some of our future leaders under nice conditions, but the pay just got a lot better. We say to the CSU faculty staff, good for you.

  

Administrators and faculty at California State University announced a tentative contract agreement Tuesday, eliminating the prospect of faculty strikes scheduled to start next week.

  

The CSU administration should now do what it has resisted: agree to give the instructors a substantial pay increase and end a stalemate that, if not settled, will probably lead to a strike next month.

  

Drawn-out contract negotiations between the California State University and its faculty union have exposed cracks in a university system long revered as among the best of its kind in the nation.
