Author: Created: 1/16/2008 12:16 PM
This blog is intended to provide information, insight and viewpoints on the CSU state budget. Much of the information may become outdated as the budget process can be very fluid as it moves forward through the Legislature. The blog will try to identify direct impacts to CSU campuses and CSUEU represented employees.

The state budget continues to take twists and turns.  The Governor has now called a special session to deal with the crisis.  Part of his solution is a mid year cut to the CSU of $66 million.  This posting gives an overview of the current budget problem and some resources to understand the crisis, the impacts and some solutions.

The State Budget Battle for 2008-2009 is over with the Governor signing the budget yesterday. The budget solves little and merely gets the state by for another year. The projections for next year indicate at least a $1.6 billion shortfall and the current budget assumes $5 billion in borrowing from the state lottery.
