The Master Plan for Higher Ed at 50

As this San Francisco Chronicle article explains, a Legislative Analyst's Office report published on November 12 finds that the California Master Plan for Higher Education is being ignored by lawmakers who don't even pretend they can live up to its expensive commitment. Read the report. Hearings on the future of the Master Plan are tentatively scheduled at the State Capitol, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., on March 24 (accountability) and April 7 (financing).

California's Master Plan for Higher Education needs to be revised--and soon--according to this September 30 Long Beach Press-Telegram editorial.

  

As this October 5 Sacramento Bee article points out, signs of a slow and fitful recovery emerged in August in some communities across the country where unemployment dropped and foreclosures stabilized. That's according to the Associated Press' monthly analysis of economic stress in more than 3,100 U.S. counties.
