Weingarten Rights–your right to representation when brought before management on possible disciplinary charges—is based on a 1975 U.S. Supreme Court decision initiated by organize labor (NLRB vs. J. Weingarten). Although Weingarten rights were developed for unionized private sector workers, these same rights have been extended to California state employees and other public employees in a series of legal decisions.

Our new contract was ratified by the membership in January 2007 and expires June 30, 2009.  It has tons of new and modified language in it.  Some of the new language pertains to: Fee Waver, Probationary period, doctors note when calling in sick, in-range and reclass process, employee evaluations, vacation balance, Family Medical Leave, hours of work for exempt employees, new pay ranges, professional development, parking fees, strike clause, layoff, etc. Please take the time to read through it.  It will be to YOUR benefit to know these new work rules.  CSUEU will be providing the new agreement in paper or CD format to all members in the very near future.
