Bargaining Update #13 - October 25, 2014

CSU Employee Union members have voted overwhelmingly in favor of the tentative agreement for a new contract with the CSU. Fully 98 percent of members who submitted ballots voted to ratify the agreement, reflecting both a record turnout and record percentage in favor of ratification.

Ratification ballots were sent to all members last month and were due to CSUEU’s Sacramento headquarters yesterday. Ballots were counted today.

The CSU votes on the agreement at its next Board of Trustees meeting on November 12-13. With the 2012-14 contract having been extended, this new contract does not go into effect until after the trustees ratify it, and it extends through June, 2017. The compensation portion of this contract, however, is retroactive to July 1, 2014.

“This vote is the culmination of the highly effective Take a Stand campaign that CSUEU conducted throughout the spring and summer,” said CSUEU President Pat Gantt. “It shows the positive results that can be achieved with everyone in the organization working together.”
“Members of the CSUEU bargaining team worked very hard for well over a year to arrive at this agreement. The team thanks all of the CSUEU members across the state who supported the team and its efforts,” said CSUEU VP for Representation Alisandra Brewer, adding, “Once the contract is in effect, we won’t be able to rest on our laurels, as we’ll all need to turn our attention to enforcement and to further systemic improvements.”
