2018 in Union News
New Eballot voting nets record-number of votes for contract ratification.
CSUEU members responded in record numbers to the new online votingsystem and voted to ratify our Tentative Agreement with the California State University. This contract guarantees salary increases of 9% over the next 17 monthsthrough July 2019, along with a one-time $650 recognition bonus for employees.
If approved by the Board of Trustees on Jan. 31, the three-year contract takes immediate effect, starting with a retroactive salary increase of 3% back to July 1, 2017.
Only full members were eligible to vote, and the Tentative Agreement was passed by an overwhelming majority of all members.
“I am extremely happy that we tried something new with E-balloting which allowed for the highest level of participation in contract ratification that we’ve ever seen,” said CSUEU Acting President Neil Jacklin. “I am exceptionally proud of our members and our chapters that never stopped supporting the Bargaining Team through some challenging times. We came together and that’s what made this work. One Union, One Voice - that made all the difference in the world.”
News of the strong wins in our new contract motivated dozens of employees to sign up to be full CSUEU members so that they could vote.
Movement through our salary ranges which we were not able to win at the bargaining table we took to the next level. A bill sponsored by CSUEU and sponsored by Assembly Member Shirley Weber (D-San Diego) that would restore salary steps for all represented CSU employees is now up for a vote in the Legislature.
