2017 in Contract News
Some 2014-17 contract history and an overview of the current bargaining situation.
WHAT WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON
Everyone should understand that some articles take a day or two to dissect and review. We have been working diligently, carefully looking over each article to make sure this contract protects all our employees regardless of their classification. It is important that everyone is protected under the contract; therefore, this process is tedious and time consuming. We're working hard on our end to secure all our employees have their rights protected.
WHAT IS MANAGEMENT DOING
It has been 86+ calendar days (or 8 bargaining sessions) since the bargaining team has been waiting for management to respond on delivered proposals. It is important to note that the proposals that have actually been returned by management have been an attack on who we are as a union, and it is clear that they prefer to strip us of our rights to protect, represent, and serve our represented employees.
WHAT ORGANIZING WILL CONTINUE DOING
The chapters have demonstrated to the CSU that we are serious about supporting our bargaining team and protecting and securing a fair contract. The Contract Action Teams (CAT) and Organizing team will continue to seek power and make our voices heard through engaging our represented employees in their workplaces and with each goal and tactic we will find the power to build a solid foundation for a winning contract.
