Union Announcements

Ø  Contract Negotiations Are Underway

CSUEU has officially kicked off contract negotiations by submitting our Sunshine Proposal at the January Board of Trustees meeting. This proposal reflects member priorities like fair pay, job security, and accountability, including addressing unpaid salary steps, overreliance on temporary labor, and unilateral rollouts of shared services and AI without bargaining.

Members across the state marked the first day of bargaining with a Blue Out, showing unity and readiness for what’s ahead. Momentum matters now!

  • Members: Join the Chancellor’s Office Contract Action Team by completing the sign-up survey. CAT members help organize campus support during negotiations, which is how we turn proposals into wins.  Not a member yet?  Come join us today!
  • Unit 9 employees, are encouraged to join an upcoming follow up discussion focused on how the bargaining team is addressing your specific needs in current contract negotiations. This session builds on the conversation held last November and will create space to share updates, ask questions, and clarify priorities. More details will be shared soon.

Ø  Meet Gubernatorial Candidate Eric Swalwell
Thursday, February 5, 2026 | 12 to 1 pm | Zoom

Apologies for the short notice. Just rec’d the update Wednesday.  CSUEU continues its nonpartisan work to engage candidates on issues that directly impact our working conditions. Thursday, members will have an exclusive opportunity to hear from candidate Eric Swalwell.

  • If interested in listening in on the Q&A, use this link to register.

Ø  CSULB Is Now a Fully Unionized Campus

More than 700 student workers at Beach Shops and ASI Long Beach voted to join CSUEU, making Long Beach a wall to wall union campus. This strengthens everyone’s bargaining power as students and staff head into contract negotiations together, one union and one fight.

Ø  Teamsters Strike February 17 to 20

Teamsters Local 2010 will strike at 22 campuses and the Chancellor’s Office in response to CSU unfair labor practices. Honoring a picket line is a concrete way workers support each other and protect long-term working conditions.

  • Members are encouraged to review the FAQ on what it means to honor another union’s picket line.

Ø  Members: Still Time to Join Lobby Day 2026
April 13 to 14 | Sacramento

CSUEU members will meet directly with state legislators to advocate for CSU employees and public higher education. These conversations matter, especially during contract years.

  • There is still room for members who want to participate. Just fill out this survey to apply.

Ø  Union News From Around the Country

In Texas, Lockheed Martin mechanic and union president Taylor Rehmet of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers won a state senate seat last week! It is a reminder that organized workers can and do shape policy when they step forward collectively.
