Welcome to Chapter 314 - Dominguez Hills

We are volunteers working to make this site a useful and powerful support tool focused on meeting local and statewide union information and activity needs. It is designed to provide current information on local chapter related events as well as  a pathway to the www.csueu.org page for a broader perspective of the organization's services and activities. Please let us know how we can improve our new site to better serve your information needs.

One main purpose of our website is to inform you of our annual events and meetings that provide a forum for Dominguez Hills participation. These events include Know Your Rights - Lunch and Learn Series, annual Holiday Party, Summer BBQ,  statewide Organizing  Campaign, representation surveys, and announcement of union victories.

I invite you to help with or participate in all these events. Please visit the chapter events page to get more details and for points of contact for union representation.

Again, we welcome you to our website and to one of the most dynamic CSUEU chapters and highest membership % in the CSU. We are looking forward to serving your needs.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Jones-Hunter
President & General Council Delegate

Management Continues to Threaten Retirement Benefits (5 days ago)
The CSUEU bargaining team met with management Tuesday through Thursday, February 14, 15, and 16. Following up on its “sunshine” proposals last month involving Articles 20 and 21, CSU management declared its intention to discuss employee contributions to pre-funding of retirement medical plans and extension of the time required for vesting in retirement medical plans. A potential long-term issue facing public employees, retirement medical plans have been a hot topic at bargaining tables with all state employee groups over the past year. Management also voiced its intention to discuss increases in campus parking fees and mandatory employee contributions to CalPERS pension plans, the latter in the context of the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act (PEPRA). However, management offered zero concrete proposals or details. The CSUEU bargaining team stood strong and asked tough questions regarding each of these topics. CSUEU also proposed an employee rights-centered preamble to the collective bargaining agreement to highlight a mutual commitment to the importance of staff. Among the core values proposed by CSUEU in this document: We believe in the right to a competitive compensation structure with predictable movement ...

  • Furlough Friday

To anyone going through furloughs or pay cuts in any form, here's hoping that you can take a moment to laugh about it amid the stress. Maybe deep down, you even like the extra time off? That's what this song is about. In California, among other states, employees voted to implement a two-day per month furlough time off policy without pay for the staff and faculty of the 23 campus CSU system. The furloughs, intended to minimize layoffs, began in August 2009. The 10% pay cut is meant to correct $275 million of the CSU's $564 million dollar budget deficit.
