GENERAL COUNCIL DELEGATE SUPPLEMENTAL ELECTION

CSUEU Chapter 305 held its Supplemental Election for General Council Delegates.  The General Council (GC) convention is scheduled to be held September 3 through September 7, 2009 in Los Angeles.  The duties of GC Delegates include attending the General Council convention in September and acting as a liaison between your Chapter and the General Council.  The term of office for Delegates in 2009 is three years beginning with the General Council meeting in September 2009.  Our CSUEU chapter receives one delegate per 100 members or major fracton thereof (e.g. 750 - 850 members = 8 delegates).

Vicki Anderson and Natalia Bremer join the previously elected General Council Delegates that include: Bridget McCracken, Carl Baer, Joesph Jelincic, Billie Feliciano, Christina Valero, and Vicki Baingul.

The follow are the alternates in order:  Sandee Noda, Shawn Heiser, Dustin Fabian, and Anthony Benson.

Thanks to all the candidates for running and thanks to the Chapter members who voted in this supplemental election.

Vicki Baingul has respectfully withdrawn from General Council.  Chapter 305 delegation will be Bridget McCracken, Carl Baer, Joesph Jelincic, Billie Feliciano, Christina Valero, Vicki Anderson, Natalia Bremer, and Sandee Noda.  The following are the alternates in order: Shawn Heiser, Dustin Fabian, and Anthony Benson.

In Unity, Bridget McCracken, Elections Chair

Health and Safety Victory in the Library!

The CSUEU filed a complaint with Cal/OSHA over conditions in the J. Paul Leonard library after learning of employees working in the building with only one working exit, fire sprinklers with no water and limited lighting, among other things.  While SF State's "Risk Management" called these things "minor", Cal/OSHA considers them very serious.  As a result of the complaint, management is taking significant steps to improve employee safety in the library construction zone.

Employees are reminded to report unsafe work conditions or workplace injuries to their administrator immediately. Contact a CSUEU steward if you need assistance.

Budget Teach-In

On Feb. 26 the SF State Alliance for the CSU team put on a five-hour budget teach-in. I spoke at the opening session right after the campus president, and I moderated the first panel from noon to 1, called:  "The state of SF State: Working and learning conditions on the shop floor." We had about 1,000 in attendence with many others watching live on their work computers or in classrooms via video feed. We also collected 850 faxes to the governor during the event.
