Tentative Agreement Reached!!!

CSU Employees Union Reaches Tentative Agreement

After many months of hard-fought negotiations, the California State University Employees Union (CSUEU) has reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) that will guarantee salary increases of 9% over the next 20 months and a one-time $650 recognition bonus for employees upon ratification.  Specifically, the three-year agreement provides a retroactive salary increase of 3% back to July 1, 2017, a 3% salary increase on July 1, 2018, and a 3% salary increase on July 1, 2019.  There are no changes to the cost of retirement benefits and healthcare formulas that would impact the salary increases.

Other highlights from the tentative agreement include:

  • Parking fees will be frozen at the current rate and cannot be increased during the life of the agreement.
  • A minimum wage for CSUEU represented employees of $15 an hour will be established and is retroactive to July 1, 2017.
  • Any CSUEU-represented employees who apply for a vacant position and meet minimum requirements must be granted an interview.
  • Shift differentials will be increased by 4.55% to 8% depending on shift.
  • Vacation accrual maximums increased.

CSUEU members stood together and should feel proud that our actions this year - from organizing raucous rallies to shining a spotlight on mismanagement of campus budgets through a state audit - we demonstrated that frontline staff are the backbone of the CSU.

Together, we successfully defended unprecedented attacks by the CSU such as taking away employee initiated In-Range Progression (IRP) requests, detrimental changes in eligibility for Family Medical Leave (FML), restricting the grievance procedure, and reductions in union rights. We were able to beat back these attacks and protect our members’ rights through strong membership support.

The Tentative Agreement is subject to ratification by CSUEU members. The full text will be made available, along with summaries and answers to frequently asked questions.  The ratification schedule and procedures on voting will be available soon. The total amount CSUEU has successfully won over the past six years, including past negotiations and this new agreement, will be salary increases of 20.34% for all CSUEU-represented employees.
