Survey on In-Range Progression (IRP) Now Available

Updated April 16, 2013

An In-Range Progression (IRP) is a provision of our CSUEU-CSU contract that provides a process for employees to move through their salary range as they assume additional or enhanced responsibilities and skills while still performing the greater part of their work within their current classification. CSUEU is gathering data about your experience with the IRP process at SDSU. Our goal is to help members with this process to increase their chances to receive well-deserved and in many cases, long overdue salary increases. Your responses will provide valuable information the Union will use in future discussions with Human Resources and President Hirschmann.

Depending on your answers, this survey will take about 10-20 minutes to complete. You may exit the survey and return to where you left off and also back up to correct previous responses. This survey will be available for input through Wednesday, May 1st.

We have scheduled two In-Range Progression workshops for Thursday, April 25th.  Participants will learn the fundamentals of applying for an IRP.

Where:  Love Library 430 (Leon Williams Room)
Date:     April 25, 2013
Time:    Session 1:  11:30-12:30pm
             Session 2:  12:30-1:30pm

Listed below are some documents you might find useful.

For more information on IRP's and compensation two recently revised Know Your Rights (KYR) fliers are available:

· KYR #2 Compensation covers the different ways that employees get paid, including general salary increases, reclassification, in-class progression, bonuses, shift differentials, and emergency pay.

· KYR #11 IRP (Also known as CSUEU IRP: A Practical Guide) provides an overview of in-range progressions, a provision of the CSUEU-CSU contract that provides a method for employees to move through their salary ranges as they assume additional or enhanced responsibilities and skills. An in-range progression carries a minimum salary increase of three percent and no maximum increase.

Note: There is a similar but different process for Reclassification, which occurs when an employee is working 50% or more of their assigned duties in a higher classification.  An older KYR #1 Reclassification and In-Class Progression covers the differences between the two options. We plan to address Reclassification at a later date.
