Two wildfires struck Northern and Southern California nearly the same time last November. In addition to an unprecedented death toll from the Paradise Fire near Chico and thousands of homes destroyed, the wildfires darkened the sky in both regions for days. Multiple counties, from Ventura to Sacramento, reported Air Quality Index values ranging from “very unhealthy” (serious health effects) to “hazardous” (emergency conditions) for at least a week during the fires’ peak.

The CSU "Has Not Provided Adequate Oversight of the Safety of Employees and Students Who Work With Hazardous Materials."
A long-awaited California State Auditor investigation of the California State University’s health and safety compliance will be released tomorrow. The state audit will likely be highly critical of the CSU’s lack of proper oversight and unsafe operations that jeopardize the health and safety of employees and students. The audit will also likely identify the failure of the CSU to adequately regulate health and safety procedures or monitor hazardous conditions on CSU campuses.
